One of the symbols of the International Agricultural Fair, including this year’s 92nd edition, are equestrian events, which in the last two days featured rounds one and two of the Vojvodina Show Jumping League as part of the 70th May Equestrian Tournament. Nine competitions with almost 200 starts, featuring some of the best riders and horses among the pairs.
I am pleased and proud because the program was phenomenal. The riders performed exceptionally, showing high-level riding skills in a fierce competition. The weather gave us a rough time, but despite that, there was quite the resilient crowd out there determined to watch the whole show - said the director of the Vojvodina Equestrian Association, Dejan Suvajdžić, adding that the matches reminded him of the previous May Tournaments.
The first day of the tournament featured four matches, the second day featured five matches. In the tightest of them, held in the afternoon, outcomes were decided by finesse.
The harmony between a horse and its rider is a finesse that separates the best of the best, and that can only be achieved through long and hard practice. Of course, the results are a sum of a million different factors, luck being one of them – added Suvajdžić and pointed out that the Manege arena featured only horses of the highest quality and expensive lineage, which have achieved admirable results internationally.
Today’s program at the Manege will be marked by public training sessions and organized riding workshops for children, who will receive horseshoe-shaped souvenirs upon the end of the workshops.
The horsemen and horsewomen will not allow the arena to sit empty, in that manner we have an upcoming workshop on the field for all the visitors and children who want to learn about horses, horse grooming, horse jumping, horse riding and the equestrian world in general – says our host.
Tuesday is also reserved for public training sessions, as well as for a demonstration of how horses are being prepared for the tournaments and matches. On Wednesday the famous carriage parade will take place, along with a showcase and competitive performance of horse-drawn carriages, for which the invitation stands until the very beginning of the matches.
