Austria – Partner Country of the 79th International Agricultural Fair

The International Agricultural Fair will this year be marked by, among other events, the participation of Austria – Partner Country, which will present the latest achievements in the field of agricultural production.

As it has been announced at today’s press conference, the Fair will feature meetings with companies dealing with agribusiness in Serbia, educational programmes, while the key segment would be dedicated to organic agriculture, renewable sources of energy, agricultural technologies and husbandry.

- Austria is the biggest investor in Serbia and it has so far invested as much as 2.8 billion euros, with around 400 Austrian companies conducting business in Serbia, said Andreas Haidenthaler, trading advisor at the Austrian Embassy in Serbia. He also announced that special attention would be paid to the education of representatives of companies dealing with agribusiness, as well as individual farmers, who will have an opportunity to learn about the latest achievements in the field of agricultural industry in Austria. Furthermore, apart from professional events, there will be a number of events dedicated to promoting Austrian culture, such as concerts and exhibitions, Haidenthaler  explained.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Novi Sad Fair, Goran Vasić, said that Austria was a country with which we had a strong cooperation and that the presentation of Austrian companies at the International Agricultural Fair would further improve and strengthen the relations.

- Apart from exhibitions, there will be professional events tackling the issue of the achievements of Austria in the field of organic agriculture, renewable sources of energy, as well as the opportunities for cooperation in the field of livestock breeding. This should be a sort of "know-how transfer" aimed at our farmers, who will have an opportunity to hear from the horse’s mouth about the latest technologies utilized, said Vasić and announced a visit of 30-odd representatives of Austrian media to the Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad.

The 79th International Agricultural Fair will be held between 12th and 19th May and the first day of the event will feature a Business forum, with ministers of agriculture from both countries. Representatives from the European Commission are also expected to visit the event and talk about the "Future of Agriculture: different points of view of the European Commission, Austria and Serbia and Opportunities for Future Cooperation".
