For Quality Seedlings
The assistant to the Minister of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management, Mr Miloš Milovanović, has declared the 4th Exchange of Seedlings at the Novi Sad Fair today.
He said that, when it comes to quality seedlings, Serbia had a lot to offer, and that positive trends in the foreign exchange of this sector had been evident.
- There is a possibility that this balance becomes even better and, therefore, the Ministry is preparing a number of measures that will enable the development of seedling production and its certification. The Exchange of Seedlings is a first class event for exchange of experiences and acquiring new knowledge in this field, said Mr Milovanović, and added that the whole budget of the Ministry of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management is almost 50% bigger than it was last year.
Prof. Zoran Keserović, PhD, from the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad said that the Exchange of Seedlings was of great importance for the rebuilding of the production of seedlings and sowing material because our export to the Russian market used to be lot less than USD 30 million.
- Our intention is to get hear that amount in the coming period and therefore, it is important that the producers keep up with the contemporary tendencies and new technologies which enable high yields, said Mr Keserović.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Novi Sad Fair, Mr Goran Vasić, said that the production of certified seedling material was a topic of enormous potential, and considering that, the Novi Sad Fair was ready to meet the activities in this sector, both in terms of education and in terms of production and branding of planting material. He thanked the Ministry of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management, which subsidised the presentations of producers at the Exchange of Seedlings.
The Exchange has been organised at the Master Hall, wishing to cater for all those involved in planting, sowing or exterior decoration as professionals or DIY enthusiasts and enable to find top quality offer in one place.
The working hours of the Exchange are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday, 18th December, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is RSD 100.
