Quality Appraisal

The quality appraisal rulebooks adhere to the national legislation and, in some aspects, to international standards.

Tradition of Quality Appraisal

The Novi Sad Fair boasts a long and rich tradition of product quality appraisal. Appraisal of agricultural and food products, drinks, cattle and poultry is older than the International Agricultural Fair and dates back to some exhibitions in the late 19th century, when the most successful exhibitors would receive gold coins, medals and certificates.

Appraisal between February and December

Over fifty commodity groups within thirty-odd events are assessed every year. The appraisal begins in mid-February and finished in late November, which shows that the Novi Sad Fair is like a big quality appraisal institute during almost all twelve months. The products are assessed by 250 most renowned experts, from teaching assistants to academician, but most of them are university professors. Some products are assessed in orchards, vineyards and fields, where experts assess yield and agricultural technology. There is an increasing number of foreign products in some commodity groups, particularly in the category of agricultural machines, where foreign products dominate the group.

Applying International Standards

The rulebooks used adhere to national legislation and, in some cases, to international standards. For example, in the category of drinks the rulebook of the Office International de la Vigne et du Vin (OVI) from Paris is applied. International standards are also applied in the category of agricultural mechanization and several other products.

Quality Recognition

Cups and medals are awarded for the highest quality of products. The most prestigious recognition of the Novi Sad Fair is the Great Champion Cup, followed by the Silver Champion Cup and the Novi Sad Fair Cup. Among medals, the most valuable is the Great Gold Medal, followed by Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. Special recognition are awarded at some events.
